Customized career design stands out, including the Early Entry Program for the Major Free Choice System.
Continuing to drive educational innovation through flexible academic systems and strengthening of basic academic disciplines
Gachon University received the highest S grade in the “2025 University Innovation Support Project Performance Evaluation,” conducted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, on the 7th. With this achievement, Gachon has now earned the S grade for three consecutive years. As a result, the university secured a total of 11.13 billion KRW in project funding, including incentives, giving further momentum to its push for educational innovation.
The University Innovation Support Project is a major financial support initiative designed to promote universities’ autonomous innovation and structural improvement. A total of 138 universities nationwide, including 60 in the Seoul metropolitan area, are participating. This year’s evaluation focused on two key areas: ▲ educational innovation performance and ▲ internal performance management. Gachon University received high marks in both strategy and execution.
For students admitted under the Major Free Choice System (Undecided), Gachon University operates programs that provide early major exploration and intensive guidance even before enrollment, helping students strengthen their career design capabilities. In addition, the university implements customized career guidance for all students based on their aptitudes and characteristics, systematically operating it according to annual implementation plans. This was recognized as a best practice.
In terms of curriculum, the university strengthened its foundation in basic academic disciplines by fully operating general education courses, expanding investment in basic studies, and restructuring liberal arts programs. It also earned praise for generating tangible outcomes by operating diverse innovative programs that respond to new educational environments.
In the performance management category, Gachon stood out for the strong alignment between performance indicators and innovation strategies, as well as for establishing a practical feedback structure. Based on the Institutional Research (IR) center, this system enables analysis of outcomes followed by actions such as continuation, improvement, discontinuation, or establishment of programs.
Gachon University President Lee Gilya stated, “Through student-centered flexible academic systems and customized career design support, Gachon has consistently pursued educational innovation. Building on this achievement, we will continue to advance creative and innovative education programs, taking the lead in fostering future core talent.”
