Strengthening Education and Research Synergy Through Semiconductor Talent Development and Industry–Academia Cooperation
Fostering Semiconductor Specialists and Enhancing Education–Research Synergy Through Industry–Academia Collaboration
On the 1st, Gachon University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kwangwoon AI High School (Principal Kim Do-bong) at Gachon Hall to foster future AI talent and promote education–research cooperation.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on nurturing specialists in the fields of AI and semiconductors by:
Operating diverse educational programs through shared resources
Jointly developing field-oriented curricula and conducting research in partnership with leading companies
Expanding ongoing exchanges to strengthen educational and research capacities
In particular, the parties agreed to actively consider linking programs with the “early employment contract-based department” system to secure semiconductor and AI specialists at an earlier stage. Through this model, high schools, universities, and companies will work together to create a systematic talent development pipeline. This will allow students to acquire practical industry-required skills while pursuing their studies, giving them opportunities for early career entry. In turn, students will gain tailored hands-on experience and broader employment prospects, while companies can secure the right talent at the right time.
Yoon Won-jung, Vice President of Gachon University, stated, “We will dedicate our efforts to developing specialized educational programs in AI and semiconductors to cultivate creative, highly skilled talent who will lead the industries of the future.”
Kim Do-bong, Principal of Kwangwoon AI High School, said, “Through this agreement, our students will gain real opportunities to grow into core professionals in the semiconductor field.”
Prior to this, in June of last year, Gachon University signed an MOU with Sudo Electric Technical High School for “off-campus curricula under the high school credit system,” jointly developing linked education programs and teacher training initiatives, thereby continuing to strengthen its active cooperation with high schools.
